Meet the incredible team behind Paradox Coffee Roasters

Starting with Steven, one of our NSW Sales Managers. Steven has a deep passion for the coffee industry and enjoys connecting with people over a cup of coffee. He embodies our Paradox ethos of being 'For the People' and is always the first to help anyone in our team—as you can see, readily modelling our merchandise when asked!

How did you get into coffee?

After I left school, I wanted to become a carpenter. Waiting for my apprenticeship to start I got a job with a family friend who owned a roastery called Caffè Migliore. I worked in operations, helping with packing, deliveries, and roasting. My apprenticeship started and two weeks in I thought this isn’t for me, went back to Migliore and asked for my job back, worked my way through different roles in the business, and fell in love with the coffee industry.

What do you love about coffee?

There are many aspects I love; however, the one that really stands out is how people have their own connection to coffee. When you say you work within coffee, people are quick to share nostalgic stories, their coffee routines, philosophies on the way you are “supposed to” drink it, and how proud they are of their consumption. You can learn a lot about a person just by conversing about coffee.

Favourite coffee right now?

At the moment I’m drinking the El Salvador Geisha and really enjoying it. After dropping the temperature, I found the quality of acidity has risen and I’m getting more of a sweet pineapple taste through it.

Fun fact?

I saved a stranger’s life at a pub by performing the Heimlich technique. I watched the piece of steak that was lodged in her throat fly across the room. If you’ve ever seen Mrs. Doubtfire, it was exactly like that.
