Meet the team, Matt

Meet the incredible team behind Paradox Coffee Roasters, continuing with Matt, who works across our warehouse operations. Matt brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to the team, having worked in various roles across the coffee industry. 

Get to know Matt below with our quick questions series.

How did you get started in the coffee industry?
I first got into coffee many years ago when I was working as a baker in a bakery café. I got the barista to show me the machine and grew from there. A few years later, my coffee supplier offered me a chance to join their team and learn roasting. I loved the science behind it and the idea of making good coffee. I became their Head Roaster and spent years roasting, creating, and learning all things coffee. After a short break to do my own thing and enjoy life, I found my way back to the industry and now look after the warehouse here.

What do you love about coffee?
I love how versatile it is. You can be creative and explore so many flavours and experiences through different roast profiles, blends, and brew methods. There’s always something new to try.

Favourite coffee right now?
Right now, I’m mostly drinking Penny Lane. Most of my coffees are lattes, and I find Penny cuts through milk really well. A double shot gives a nice, full-flavoured cup I enjoy all day.

Fun fact about yourself?
I have three main hobbies. One is working on my old Jaguar on weekends, another is using my sample roaster at home, and the third is being a referee for American Football. I discovered the sport years ago and fell in love with it. Now I spend my Saturdays in season officiating games and helping the league keep going.
