COSTA RICA VOLCÁN AZUL

Produced by Alejo Kahle Castro, a descendant of one of Costa Rica’s pioneering coffee families, Volcán Azul carries a tradition of pursuing exceptional coffee that spans generations. Grown above 1400 MASL in rich volcanic soils, carefully selected ripe coffee cherries are dried whole on raised beds for 12 to 16 days, with controlled fermentation and slow drying developing the natural sweetness and fruit character of the coffee. The result is a clean, juicy cup with flavours of plum, peach, cherry and jasmine, balanced by bright acidity and a lingering sweetness.

For more than 100 years, the Zelaya family has been producing coffee in Antigua, Guatemala. Fourth-generation producer Ricardo Zelaya continues that tradition at Santa Clara Estate, a 90-hectare farm set high on the slopes of Hunahpú Volcano at 1550 to 1890 MASL. This washed Bourbon coffee is sweet and juicy, with ripe plum and orange notes, soft hazelnut, and a refreshing watermelon character. It has a rounded, silky mouthfeel, balanced acidity, and a super-clean finish that reflects the classic character found in Antigua coffees.
