What’s your name and where do you work?
My name is Flora and I work at Picnic on Martha in Camp Hill.

What inspired you to become a barista?
I love learning about coffee and being able to create something that brightens someone’s day.

How do you start your day before a shift?
I like to start my day with a crispy fried eggs with soy sauce on rice for breakfast or something Asian-inspired.

What’s your go-to coffee order?
A Long Black, every time. I enjoy its simplicity and the way it highlights the coffee’s flavour profile.

What’s your favourite part of working at the café?
Definitely the people. I love chatting with customers and working with such a great team. Plus, the staff meals are amazing, always tasty and a highlight of the day!

Can you share a memorable interaction you’ve had with a customer?
One of the most rewarding experiences is building a good relationship regular customers and remembering their coffee orders.

How do you perfect your latte art? Any tips?
Lots of Practice and consistency. By focusing on getting the milk texture right first, the latte art becomes much easier when the foundation is there.

What’s your favourite Paradox blend or origin, and why?
Ethiopian because they often have unique flavour characteristics that remind me of home and pair well with the foods I grew up eating.

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?
I’m a big fan of Asian breakfasts and would happily choose a bowl of congee or savoury rice dishes over a traditional Western breakfast any day.
